Review: We Came To Dance
We Came to Dance @ Salvador and Amanda’s, London – 30/09/17
We Came to Dance is a regular soulful, funky, deep house music event at Salvador and Amanda’s stylish bar restaurant in Holborn, West London. The dancefloor is bijou but the vibe got everyone up and dancing to the DJs whilst creating a party atmosphere. It was great to see the We Came to Dance team and hostesses on the dancefloor loving the music, which showed that they are house music lovers as well. Their team also support other soulful house events, they can be found wearing their event t-shirts and a big smile. We Came to Dance launched in 2015 and has been gaining supportive momentum ever since.
Every event includes the resident DJs and organisers, Graeme P and SoulDiva, as well as special DJs including Sean McCabe, David Bailey, Groove Assassin and Booker T. Tonight’s guest DJs were Omotosho and Leigh Howlett.
Omotosho got the party started played a soulful house set which included a vocal house mix of Erykah Badu – Telephone; Atlantic Starr – Circles; Sean McCabe and HanLei – How Does It Feel? Leigh Howlett played a gospel uplifting house set which included Loleatta Holloway – Can’t Let You Go (remixed by Louie Vega); Jasper Street Company – Solid Ground; He Loves Me – Jill Scott (House Remix); Jasper Street Company – Smile; Sounds of Blackness – The Pressure and 3 Winans Brothers ft. The Clark Sisters – Dance (Louie Vega Dance Ritual mix). Graeme P. played a soulful house set with classics like Boris Dlugosch ft. Inaya Day – Keep Pushing; Omar – It’s So and MD X-Spress – God Made Me Phunky. SoulDiva played a house set to a peaked crowd who were appreciative.
This night is a great event to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays because it has limited seating for those who need to rest. The sound is loud enough to feel the beats but sociable enough to have a quick chat. The next event will on Saturday 25th November 2017 at the same venue with guest DJ, Mark Stone.
