James has been in the business for over 40 years and began his DJing career in the mid – 70s in nightclubs.  The first being Bumbles in Wood Green in 1975, while working for Wheatly Taverns James did a brief spell at Crackers on Friday afternoons with George Power.

James’ first encounter with radio was in the early 80s on Horizon Radio 102.5fm; he then went on to be a major part of the original Solar Radio team of presenters. In 1990 James got involved in selling music by co-owning ‘Street Level Records’ in Tottenham. Also in the same year, he joined the north London ILR Radio station W.N.K (Wicked, Neutral & Kicking) to present the afternoon show before moving to breakfast working alongside Greg Edwards & Dixie Peach (Bernie Michaels) till September 1992. In October of that year, James joined Choice FM to co-present the breakfast show with Angie Greaves for 2 years. He vacated the show to present his own Classic Soul show for 12 years on Sunday afternoons which proved very successful.

In 1998 James & Ash Selector formed the ‘Soul Shack’ club night, 2002 James was offered a new role at Choice FM as a commercial producer/imager alongside presenting his Sunday radio show which he continued until leaving Choice in December 2004, after 14 Years.

James does many guest appearances as a DJ and has hosted and DJ’d for the Ultimate Boogie Night concerts at the Indigo2 at the o2 in London, artists include Alexander O’Neal, Cameo, Teena Marie, Atlantic Starr, Heatwave, The SOS Band, Black Street, Jean Carn, Pauline Henry, Gwen McCrae, Shirley Jones, Freddie Jackson, Junior Giscombe, Fatback Band, Kool & The Gang, Incognito, Kenny Thomas, Odyssey, Change, Light of the World, Shalamar, Loose Ends, Chic, Brass Construction(Randy Muller), James D-Train Williams, Maze & Frankie Beverley, Gwen Dickey(Rose Royce)& Sister Sledge Charlie Wilson, GQ, En-Vogue, The O’Jays Hi Tension, & Phil Fearon.

James is currently DJing at various venues from London to Kent & Essex also various Butlins Soul weekends Skegness, Minehead, and Bognor Regis. And has appeared the Margate Soul Carnival and currently Co runs Summer Breeze Soul Week in Corfu Greece …
