Raheem Devaughn jumped on the scene in 2005 with ‘The Love Experience’ album but he has been consistently growing and refining his craft for over 3 decades. Eight albums later he still remains relevant with a heavy mixture of slow jams and a splattering of socio-political tracks with timely lyrics, Raheem is true to himself and highlights all he stands for.
Tracks ‘Up and Down’ and the lead single ‘Mr Midnight’ are classic Raheem and truly sublime. The tribute to Marvin Gaye ‘Marvin Used to Say’ has a deep message and is definitely on time and needed right now.
‘Up For Air’ is a fierce slow jam, and hopefully will be released as a radio friendly single real soon.
Guest appearances include beatboxer Dougie Fresh, Saxophonist Mike Philips and Kev Brown on mid-tempo track ‘Lawd Help Me’ another message driven positive addition to this wonderful album.
This is a complete body of work that is essential to all who need slow jams with meaning in their lives.
Raheem keeps delivering and is going nowhere fast. He found his musical lane very early on and is very comfortable in it.
He is RnB royalty aka ‘The Love King’ Raheem Devaughn
