RONNIE HEREL has been at the epicentre of the club music scene for over thirty years and has been instrumental in its growth and success. The meteoric rise to the top of his craft has followed three parallel streams.

IN BROADCASTING Ronnie has celebrated over 23 years at the top, initially at BBC Radio 1xtra & BBC Radio 1 and now at MI-Soul-Radio where he continues daily, to bring the very best music into your homes and cars via his Mi-Drive show.
On his journey he has interviewed giants of the industry including Stevie Wonder; Lionel Ritchie, Justin Timberlake and Janet-Jackson (to-name a few). In addition, his-weekly “The BIG-RnB-Show” continues to set new-boundaries and is widely recognised as the best vehicle for new releases and new artists to be heard on.
Ronnie received the first of his MOBO nominations as best Radio DJ.

AS A DJ & PROMOTER Ronnie has been regarded as the “King of Clubs” and is revered by both his fellow DJs and punters alike. His unique ability to read the room and select the right track is legendary and wherever he plays around the world he always fills the dancefloors. His love of all things Soul and House sees him regularly playing at some of the most iconic venues across Europe, notably Ronnie Scott’s in London & Pikes in Ibiza. He has filled clubs from Taiwan to New York and many worldwide points in between. His DJ success has been recognised globally with two MOBO nominations for Best Radio DJ and Best Club DJ and Blues and Soul-magazine readers voting him Best Club DJ. He is a strong advocate and promotor of new and upcoming music and artists, through his radio shows and club nights; amazingly Ronnie was also a talent scout for The Voice-UK.

From his humble beginnings in East London, Ronnie has played on the international stage and headlined at festivals like Suncebeat in Croatia (and now Portugal) and Amor Andalucía in Spain and is also a long-standing resident at the legendary Southport Weekenders. Ronnie’s own events-company, Funky-Dory Love, which has pioneered the London-Soul-Brunch, The Soulful-Supper-Club, and the Summer Mini Fest in recent years, continues to enjoy significant growth and notoriety.

AS A RECORDING ARTIST, Ronnie began in the late 1980s as Quartz with the dancefloor fillers “Meltdown” and “Let’s Get Busy” Then in 1991, in collaboration with Dina Carroll, he successfully covered the Carole King classic “It’s Too Late” and made the top 10 in the UK Charts, a classic cover-which is still played in the clubs and on radio today. The love of making music resurfaced in 2022 when Ronnie released his own music again under DJ Spen’s Quantize Recordings.

The single “The Sun Will Rise Again” reached number one in the UK Soul-Charts for 4 consecutive weeks.

Ronnie also released his NEO Soul Sessions Vol 1, Compilation Album for-BBE Records. Volume 2 will be released early 2025.

Ronnie Herel is a musical ambassador, a recognised international DJ and an advocate for promoting new artists. His longevity in the business is based on his ability to stay current and being a man of the people.

He is celebrated wherever he performs whether-it’s on the radio, clubs around the world or as a recording artist.
