The R’n’B Round Up
Each week we will be bringing you a round up of the world of R’n’B. Whether it’s a new release or upcoming concert, we’ll be providing all the R’n’B news you need.
For Michael Jackson fans the wait is finally over! Today a new track entitled ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ was released from his upcoming album ‘Xscape’. The up tempo track has a throwback Mowtown/stepper feel to it and is sure to be a summer anthem. There has been controversy over the new album as critics have expressed that it is made up of substandard songs which failed to make the cut of previously released albums, however this track serves us with a great reminder of why Michael Jackson became known as ‘The King’.
Usher has had a busy week as not only did he pay tribute to Michael Jackson by performing on stage during the official debut of ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ at the IHeartRadio Music Awards, he also previewed his new single ‘Good Kisser’ set for release on June 15th. Usher has had a few musical misses over recent years, but from the 30 second teaser of the new track it would seem that his music has taken a ‘U Turn’ back to the R’n’B sound we all love him for.New releases this week came from Avery Sunshine as she dropped her album, ‘The Sun Room’, The Roots teamed up with Raheem Devaughn on their new track ‘Tomorrow’ and Calvin Richardson is back with a soulful, sensual cut entitled ‘We Gon Love Tonight’.Tickets went on sale today for Lauryn Hill live at the Brixton Academy in September, it sold out almost instantly so hopefully she will announce another UK date soon! If you’re looking for live music in and around London this week you can catch Neo Soul legends Conya Doss & Sandra St Victor performing together at the Hackney Empire on Sunday 11th May.The R’n’B track of the week is obviously ‘Love Never Felt So Good’ from Michael Jackson, to make your weekend feel good!By Carly Mond (@carlymond)
