The R’n’B Round Up
Each week we will be bringing you a round up of the world of R’n’B. Whether it’s a new release or upcoming concert, we’ll be providing all the R’n’B news you need.
Despite a few music fails over recent years, Usher remains on the great modern RnB artists and last week he served a reminder of his talents when he dropped his new single, ‘Good Kisser’. Working with a number of new producers on the track, Usher seems to have thankfully left his ‘David Guetta’ days behind, ‘Good Kisser’ is distinctive, infectious and funky and looks set to dominate RnB airwaves over the next few months!Fresh off the back of a comeback performance at American music festival Coachella, Outkast member Bog Boi has announced a solo signing to Epic Records and a return to working with LA Reid to produce his next album. He has stated though that the plan is to run a solo career alongside working on fresh material for Outkast so double the pleasure for fans!Over the past week we’ve had new a new track and a risqué video from Trey Songz , as he explains the troubles of cheating on your partner and getting caught out by modern technology on ‘Smartphones’, but if you’re looking for something more stripped back and soulful check out the stunning new track from Leela James; ‘Fall for You’ from her forthcoming album of the same title . Mase also came out of retirement (again) last week to drop catchy track ‘Nothing’ feat Eric Bellinger, the track is produced by Nic Nac (responsible for Chris Brown’s ‘Loyal’) so it might not blow your mind lyrically but the production will keep you dancing for days!If you’re looking for live music this week you can catch Lemar performing at the Jazz Café on Friday 16th and Honey Larochelle and Nate Williams performing a free concert at the Bedroom Bar, Shoreditch on Tuesday 13th. Also, if you missed out on tickets for the first Lauryn Hill date at Brixton Academy, she has quietly added an extra date of September 21st which tickets are still available for. This week’s track of the week of course is Usher’s ‘Good Kisser’, but don’t forget to also check out the new Michael Jackson album, ‘Xscape’ released today!
