Tutu is a creative force to be reckoned with and has had an undying love for music since the age of 8! She was always destined to nurture that love into a career.
She remembers her first gig as a DJ at the legendary Fridge Bar in Brixton – London, 12 years ago. The rest is hist..! Tutu has dj’d in more clubs than she can remember including other DJ experiences in locations such as the ‘grand’ Trafalgar Square and London Fashion week as well as abroad in Paris, France and had her own first ever clubnight featured in the Metro newspaper. In more recent years, being added to the Mi-Soul DJ rosta.
In her career, Tutu has worked on projects with Nike UK, Def Jam UK, Shaheim Reid (MTV USA) Channel 4 radio and has also been hired as a freelance music Journalist for Time out London/Sao Paolo. Amongst the many ‘off the wall’ interviews that Tutu has conducted in her time, she was also the last UK journalist to interview Amy Winehouse for a glossy magazine. On account of her music knowledge and great people skills, Tutu was the first female DJ to join Mi-Soul Radio in 2013.
Over the last few years she’s managed to rack up some more ‘firsts’ with her fearless, out of the box thinking. XXL magazine, the #1 legendary USA Hip Hop Bible agreed to host their first ever ‘XXL Record of the week’ radio feature across the waters, live with Tutu on her ‘Tutu @ Two’ show.
In testimony to Tutu’s dedication and talent, over the three years that Mi-soul has been running, throughout any of the schedule and format changes The ‘Tutu @ Two’ show continues forward in the same place at the same time with the same “Mi-soul fabulous Friday feeling!”
As well as having a ‘Hip Hop High Tea’ residency at the coolest, quirkiest joint in East London, Pond bar & restaurant; home of this summers coolest creation of alcohol ‘Freakshakes’ as featured in the Metro! In 2016 Tutu steps up her Deejaying resume, adding ‘festival Deejay’ to the list as she debuts in the line up of international DJ’s for the well respected and authentic Dalston Music festival 2016 (as showcased by Time Out London) Beyond that, you can catch Tutu keeping a 700 strong crowd of ravers on their toes whilst throwing down some Hip Hop old skool gems on Friday nights throughout summer 16’ at club Karma.
