Aretha Franklin’s Biopic Will Hit Cinemas In 2020


Singer-actress Jennifer Hudson is set to play the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, in a new biopic, set for release in 2020. 

The biopic titled, “Respect”, will take views on a journey from Ms Franklin childhood, singing in church to becoming a superstar.

Franklin received numerous honours and awards throughout her career with hit songs such as “Respect”, “Chain of Fools”, “Think”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)”, and “I Say a Little Prayer”.

Jennifer Hudson is not new to the big screen, in 2006 Hudson played Effie White in the iconic Dreamgirls movie. The role earned her an Oscar and a permanent place in the spotlight.
