KISS 94 FM

Date : November 19, 2017 Category : Features, Music

Listen back to London’s music tastemakers reviewing the best of 1987, discussing the potential dance scene of 1988 and playing just amazing tracks.

Back in 1987 New Year’s Eve to be exact, Kiss 94 FM broadcasted; Norman Jay, Jazzie B and Judge Jules representing London’s warehouse parties; Family Funktion, Soul II Soul and Shake N Fingerpop. The dynamic trio was breaking laws just by sharing the music due to the station being unlicensed however this did not stop them from bringing listeners what they craved for.

During this period Soul II Soul was yet to release their first record, the ‘Summer of Love’ was yet to arrive and House music was a brand new thing. It is hard to now imagine a world without it. However, the show perfectly captures the sound of London in 1987.
