Life and Soul: Myles Sanko

We chat to none other than Myles Sanko this week on Life of a Mi-Soul fan.  What are you biggest passions? Food, I used to be a chef at the Cambridge University before becoming a professional singer, so cooking/food is a big apart of my life. Nowadays I only cook for loved ones but that’s still very exciting, Music, I love anything creative, I am an artist, an A star art student at school and have always been. I love using my hands to create things and coming up with new ideas, whether it’s carpentry, painting, graphic design or just making music. I am also a cinematographer and love capturing the world on film, well these days its digital but it is still the say. Ever since I was young I have always loved the way movies were directed and I got the chance to shoot my own music video 10 years ago and since then I have been hooked. I now shoot and direct all my music videos and also for other musicians. I am yet to do a short film but I’ll find the time soon! And of course Nature. When and how did your love for soul music begin? I think my love for soul music begun 24 years ago when I first heard “Off the Wall” by Michael Jackson. What is your favourite Soul track? They change time to time but currently it’s got to be Extension of a Man by “Donny Hathaway”. What music artist inspires you the most? I can not pick one as this will be impossible. I will name a few that are high on the list! Marvin Gaye, Otis Reading, Bill Withers and let’s not forget my friend Gregory Porter. When did you start listening to Mi-Soul?I was introduced to Mi-Soul by Chris Philips in August 2014.Which Mi-Soul show do you enjoy the most/look forward to and why? The Melvo Baptiste Show as he has been supporting me since day one. Thanks Myles for chatting to us and stay locked in to Mi-Soul for good music!Check out his website for events, fantastic music and videos! www.mylessanko.com Photo Credit goes to Gareth Millar
