Hold the phone, there’s a new documentary being made about the legendary Marvin Gaye.Directors, Gabriel Clarke and Torquil Jones the team behind ‘Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans’ have joined forces once again to document the singers journey, making his classic 1971 album and will include previously unseen footage and interviews with other Motown artists.‘What’s Going On’ was the eleventh studio album by the formidable soul musician, released on May 21, 1971, on the Motown-subsidiary label Tamla Records. His children Nona, Marvin III and Frankie Gaye said, “We would like to express our excitement about the upcoming documentary feature film about our father and the creation of his amazing What’s Going On album. We are proud that his relevance remains intact and we look forward to being a part of this cinematic journey.”His tragic death in 1984, where Gaye’s father fatally shot him at their house in Los Angeles didn’t stop the singer from achieving an unprecedented succession of awards such as; a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, inclusion in the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[6]This was taken from his live gig at Montreux back in 1980.
