Studio Guest: Angie Le Mar
Studio Guest: Angie Le Mar
Angie Le Mar will be dropping by the Mi-Soul Radio Studios on Saturday 15th April to chat with the Mastermind crew from 9am.
She will be talking about her career in showbiz which spans decades and now, she has added published ‘Author’ to her long list of accomplishments.
Her first book, a memoir, launched at London’s iconic Waterstones Piccadilly bookshop with a host of celebrity support including actors Richard Blackwood (Eastenders), Ellen Thomas (Eastenders) and Chizzy Akudolu (Holby City); broadcaster, journalist and presenter Brenda Emmanus; comedians Travis Jay and Kojo, and many more.
Her book, ‘Full Circle’ starts with the story of a young black girl growing up in South London, providing a vivid snapshot of life through the eyes of a child of the 1960s and 1970s, being part of the church and a multi-cultural community, and discovering a natural passion for performing and making people laugh. The story travels through Angie’s life; from becoming a parent three times over, struggling with the ups and the downs of a life in showbusiness, learning to live with dyslexia, and returning to the church, with the over-riding, powerful messages echoed throughout: “Finish what you start”, “What the mind can conceive, the man can achieve’ and “When a door closes, just open another”.
Full Circle poignantly launched on Angie Le Mar’s father’s birthday. Raglan George Martin died on 16th April 2016 and Angie writes with enormous love and admiration for her father, with a chapter dedicated to him (Daddy’s Girl) in her memoir.
Angie Le Mar recalls the launch, saying: “Last night was an amazing evening and it meant so much to be with my friends and family to celebrate the launch of Full Circle on my Dad’s birthday.”
